FAQ
Clear answers about ADAS calibration, scanning, programming, and mobile service in Southern California. Vehicle-specific requirements always follow the applicable OEM procedure.
ADAS Calibration
What is ADAS calibration?
ADAS calibration is the process of aligning and configuring a vehicle’s advanced driver assistance sensors, such as cameras, radar, LiDAR, and ultrasonic modules, according to the manufacturer’s service procedures. The goal is to restore each system’s intended field of view, aiming, and operating parameters so features like automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control can perform as designed.
When is ADAS calibration required?
Calibration requirements are determined by OEM procedures for the specific vehicle and repair. Common triggers include windshield replacement, collision or structural repairs, suspension or steering work, wheel alignment, bumper repair or replacement, camera or radar replacement, and illuminated ADAS warning lights. Not every repair automatically requires calibration. The OEM service information should be followed for that platform.
Do I need ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement?
Often yes, when a forward-facing camera is mounted to or near the windshield. Glass replacement can change the camera’s mounting and reference position. Many OEM procedures require static and/or dynamic camera calibration after windshield replacement. We confirm the requirement from the manufacturer procedure for your vehicle before performing the work.
Is ADAS calibration needed after collision or bumper repairs?
Body, structural, and bumper repairs can change sensor mounting positions or vehicle geometry. Radar and ultrasonic sensors are frequently mounted in or behind bumper assemblies. OEM procedures determine whether aiming, initialization, or full calibration is required after the repair is complete.
What about suspension, steering, or wheel alignment work?
Suspension and steering repairs can affect ride height, geometry, and steering-angle references used by driver-assistance systems. Wheel alignment may also change sensor or steering baselines. Whether calibration or related initialization is required depends on the OEM procedure for that vehicle. We review the applicable service information before scheduling.
Can I drive without ADAS calibration after a repair?
A vehicle may still drive, but uncalibrated ADAS sensors may not perform as intended. Systems can produce inaccurate warnings, delayed responses, or reduced assistance until OEM-required procedures are completed. When the manufacturer procedure calls for calibration after a repair, it should be treated as part of a complete, safety-minded repair process.
How long does mobile ADAS calibration take?
Most visits take about 1 to 3 hours, depending on the vehicle, the number of systems involved, and whether static targets, dynamic road calibration, or both are required. Static work needs a suitable level area for targets. Dynamic work needs an appropriate drive route. We perform the service at your location so the vehicle does not need to be towed for calibration alone.
Which vehicle makes and models do you calibrate?
We calibrate ADAS systems on most domestic and import platforms, including Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Nissan, Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Kia, Hyundai, Tesla, Subaru, Mazda, Porsche, Volvo, Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, Lincoln, Cadillac, Buick, Genesis, and others. Contact us to confirm coverage for your specific year, make, and model.
What happens if an ADAS calibration cannot be completed?
An unsuccessful calibration can have several causes, including vehicle conditions, diagnostic faults, component installation, alignment-related conditions, environmental requirements, or other prerequisites. When appropriate, Fuzetech can perform additional diagnostics to help identify conditions preventing completion.
Scanning
Do you provide pre-scan and post-repair scanning?
Yes. Fuzetech provides diagnostic scanning, including pre- and post-repair scanning when applicable, to help identify diagnostic trouble codes and evaluate vehicle systems during the repair process. Pre- and post-repair scanning is available alongside calibration and programming on the same visit where applicable.
What documentation comes back after service?
Applicable scan results, calibration documentation, and service records can be provided for the vehicle or repair file after service is completed. For shop jobs this commonly includes vehicle information, scan results when performed, calibration records when available, supporting setup photos where applicable, and the invoice.
Programming
Do you provide module and OEM programming?
Fuzetech provides module programming, OEM programming, diagnostics, and related vehicle electronic services for supported vehicles. Programming requirements vary by manufacturer, module, vehicle configuration, and repair. Module programming and OEM programming are often available on the same visit as calibration.
Can you program modules as well as calibrate?
Yes. Module programming and OEM programming are available, often on the same visit as calibration when the vehicle and repair require both.
For Collision Shops
When in the repair should I schedule calibration?
After the structural, glass and bumper work that affects sensor mounting is finished, so the vehicle is in its final geometry. You can send the request earlier and we will schedule it for that point.
What do you need from me to get started?
VIN or year/make/model, plus a short note on the repair: parts replaced and systems affected. We confirm which scanning, calibration or programming procedures apply before we come out.
Can you tell me whether this car even needs calibration?
Yes. We review the vehicle and the repair against the systems involved, so you are not paying for procedures the repair does not call for.
Do you come to body shops and repair facilities?
Yes. Fuzetech is a mobile ADAS calibration service for collision centers, body shops, dealerships, fleets, and other repair facilities across Southern California. We bring professional equipment to your location and schedule around your workflow to help keep vehicles moving through the repair order.
